Machine Shop open position

Fall 2021

The University of Missouri Physics and Astronomy Department is seeking a creative machinist/instrument-maker eager to learn new skills for a full-time position in their Physics Machine Shop. 

The Physics Shop performs a wide variety of design and fabrication work for the University. Manual lathes, mills, etc. as well as a CNC milling machine and lathe are used in the construction of research equipment.  The Physics Shop is well-known for the many instruments used for neutron scattering that it has produced for various research labs, nationally and internationally, over the years. 

A successful applicant should have an Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.  Those with less than an Associate’s degree, but having more experience, are encouraged to apply.
