Physics Faculty recognized through awards

Prof. Suchi Guha and Prof. Shi-Jie Chen at the awards ceremony

Prof. Suchi Guha and Prof. Shi-Jie Chen have been recognized for their contribution to research and education through two awards:

1.The Provost’s Award for Leadership in International Education recognizes MU faculty who have provided outstanding leadership in strengthening MU's international dimension. Prof. Suchi Guha, the recipient of this award, has developed courses and taught at universities and research institutes in Brazil, India, Taiwan, Denmark, Pakistan, and South Africa. She has initiated vibrant research programs and collaborations with students and scientists in these countries. Toward this end she has been enormously successful in obtaining external federal grants and awards for her international educational activities. Out of her current grants from the National Science Foundation as the PI, three have an international component: one is for conducting a workshop in the area of biosensors for US scientists in Brazil, the second involves research collaborations in the area of organic electronics with scientists in Denmark and India, and the third involves research and educational activities in energy related science with scientists in South Africa.

2. The Curators' Professorship award recognizes exemplary service to the University of Missouri. Prof. Shi-Jie Chen, the recipeint fo this award, has received enthusiastic endorsement from his peers for his exceptional performance, service and teaching record. His many contributions to public higher education bring great credit to the University of Missouri-Columbia.
