Professor Suchi Guha, Arash Ghobadi, and Chair Paul Miceli

Through the generosity of Meera and H. R. Chandrasekhar, the Department of Physics and Astronomy gained a new one-semester fellowship (.5 FTE) for an outstanding graduate student in their final year with plans to defend their PhD disseration by May 2026. Arash Ghobadi was named the first Chandrasekhar Fellow.

The department appreciates the generous support of Meera and Chandra, both professors emeriti of our department, who endowed this fellowship and for their years of dedication to research, teaching, and mentoring.
