Distinguished Curators’ Professor of Physics and Radiology named AIMBE Fellow
Kattesh V. Katti, Distinguished Curators’ Professor of Physics and Radiology in the College of Arts & Science, was recently elected into the College of Fellows of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).
"This recognition is special because it provides an attestation by my peers in medicine and biological engineering about the importance of Nano-Ayurvedic medicine," said Dr. Katti, who has been utilizing chemical and nanotechnological techniques to discover diagnostic and therapeutic agents for more than 30 years. "In my research, I discovered a way to apply green nanotechnology to transform Indian traditional Ayurvedic medicine into more effective treatements for deadly infections." His discovery has helped save lives around the world. Silver nanoparticles developed through his inventions are being used to treat chronic bacterial infections including pneumonia and staph infections, and have shown an outstanding efficacy to neutralize the COVID-19 virus.
AIMBE Fellows represent the top 2% of medical and biological engineers.
Dr. Katti also serves as the Director of the Institute of Green Nanotechnology, Director of the University of Missouri Cancer Nanotechnology Platform Professor, and Margaret Proctor Mulligan Professorship in Medical Research for the MU School of Medicine.
