Prof. Silvia Bompadre, the Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Physics and Astronomy department, is the recipient of this year's Blue Chalk Advising Award.
The Blue Chalk Awards stand as some of the oldest forms of recognition for exemplary academic advising at MU. They allow the College of Arts and Science to highlight and publicly acknowledge its advisers who truly exhibit an investment in student development and success.
Matthew Snyder, an undergraduate physics major, nominated prof. Bompadre for this award: "Dr. Bompadre really tries to make sure that all of the undergraduates in the physics department feel at home in the department. Furthermore, she always makes time to meet with students and help them with whatever they need whether its about research, coursework, or just general advice. In particular, she has helped me immensely throughout all the internships and Ph.D. programs that I have applied for leading to me getting several Ph.D. offers."
Cassandra Marks, College of Arts and Science Student Council representative, Matthew Snyder, A&S Dean Nicole Monnier, prof. Paul Miceli, and prof. Dorina Kosztin zoom bombed prof. Bompdre's class today to present the award and offer congratulations!
