Sigma Pi Sigma
Founded in 1921, Sigma Pi Sigma (the Honors Society for physics majors) was created to recognize and honor outstanding Physics students, encourage community service amongst Physics students, stimulate a community interest in Physics, and create a fellowship of highly achieving Physics students. The Mizzou chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma was founded in the Spring of 2010.
For additional information on the Sigma Pi Sigma honors society, you may visit the national site or contact the current president of the local Sigma Pi Sigma.
Student Astronomical Society
The Student Astronomical Society (SAS) is an organization designed for any Mizzou student interested in expanding their knowledge about the universe and all it encompasses. The SAS meets the second Wednesday of each month. Every meeting includes a guest speaker, snacks, and observing in Laws Observatory on the roof of the Physics Building. We also team up with the CMAA (Central Missouri Astronomical Association) for meteor shower observing events, Rockbridge Planetarium visits, and more! Learning about astronomy can open your mind and make you more aware of all the incredible things around you. Our organization can provide you with these opportunities, as well as a great place to meet new people! The Astronomy Club does not discriminate based on major or year in school—we invite any Mizzou student to join! For more information, contact the president
